Skellingthorpe Old Wood Walk

This historic village is located near Lincoln in North Lincolnshire.
This circular walk from the village heads west to explore Skellingthorpe Old Wood. You can follow paths west to the expansive wood where there are miles of trails to try. In the spring you can look out for the lovely bluebells.  There's also attractive oak, conifers, hazel, and lime trees to see in the ancient woodland. Wildlife to look out for includes buzzards, deer and a variety of woodland birds.

To continue your walking in the area head just a couple of miles south east to visit Hartsholme Country Park and the Swanholme Lakes Nature Reserve. There's a series of pretty lakes and beautiful Victorian landscaped gardens to enjoy here. Whisby Nature Park is also located near here.
Just to the south there's another highlight of the area at the Elizabethan Doddington Hall. The hall has some beautiful gardens and a mountain bike trail to try.

Dog Walking

Just to the east you could pick up the Fossdyke Canal and enjoy a pleasant waterside walk into the city of Lincoln. The old canal path will take you into the city where you could visit the iconic Lincoln Cathedral and historic Lincoln Castle.
You could also head west along National Cycle Route 647 to visit the impressive Fledborough Viaduct and the lovely Clumber Country Park. There's some fine views over the River Trent valley countryside from the top of the viaduct.
