Great Missenden to Coombe Hill Walk

5.1 miles (8.2 km)

Ordnance Survey Map Open Streetmap This walk takes you to Coombe Hill from Great Missenden. The walk follows the South Bucks Way and the Icknield Way Path to the viewpoint from the village.
It's about a 5 mile walk, following the waymarked trails north to Little Hampden before climbing to the 257 metre high Coombe Hill. From here there are some wonderful views over the surrounding Chilterns countryside and hills. The summit, a significant spot, is marked by the Coombe Hill Monument, erected in 1904 to honour the 148 Buckinghamshire men lost in the Second Boer War. From this vantage point, you'll not only enjoy expansive views across the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty but also be able to see Chequers, the Prime Minister's country residence.
