This walk visits Appleton Reservoir near Warrington.
The small lake is mainly used for fishing but you can also enjoy a pleasant waterside stroll here. There's a parking area on Park Lane just to the north west of the site. Then pick up trails heading around the lake, part of which uses a section of the Mersey Valley Timberland Trail. You can continue your walking along the trail and visit the nearby village of Daresbury.

Further Information and Other Local Ideas

Just to the north west there's the picturesque Moore Nature Reserve. It's a lovely place for a walk with lakes, peaceful woodland and attractive meadows to explore. The reserve is also great for wildlife with a wide range of birds to look out for on the water. You can find them on the south western side of Warrington, next to the Manchester Ship Canal at postcode WA4 6XE for your sat navs.
